About Us
The North Carolina Chapter of AFCOM was formed in 1997. There were a few years of inactivity and then in 2001 the chapter was revived with a core group of 10 individuals. Since then the chapter has grown to one of the largest chapters in AFCOM with a total membership of 81 individuals representing 44 different companies. Our membership consists mostly of Data Center Management and staff, but does include a healthy mixture of Data Center servicing professionals.
We currently conduct quarterly face-to-face meetings that cover a couple of interesting and relevant topics for Data Center Management. During our meetings, we also have a roundtable discussion and the topics range from the presentation topics to other pertinent information. Whenever possible we try to have the host site conduct a Data Center tour. These events are great opportunities to network with your Data Center peers to discuss issues that you are facing to see how others deal with situations.
The chapter also has many things planned to improve the overall quality of the membership and to also increase our membership size.
The parent organization, AFCOM, is the leading association for data center professionals offering services to help support the management of data centers around the world. AFCOM was established in 1981 to offer data center managers the latest information and technology they need through annual conferences, published magazines, research and hotline services, industry alliances and more.
AFCOM is one of the most respected names in the data center industry, due in large part to its exceptional services and resources. The association counts among its prestigious members, data center managers, MIS directors, CIO's, and other IS professionals from Fortune 500 companies, all reaping the benefits that AFCOM has to offer.
If you are located in North Carolina, a Data Center professional, and would like to become involved in an association with like-minded professionals, then we would love for you to come join us. It's only a $25 annual charge in addition to your AFCOM membership. We would also like for you to get involved in helping lead and organize various activities within the NC Chapter. Contact one of our NC AFCOM Board Members listed on the Board Page to learn more or get involved.
